The new guy pulled out his bag of dice, his character sheet, some fuchsia graph paper…and if Tom Holloway was guessing correctly, a piece of toast.

“Is that toast?” Tom asked, somewhere between amusement and annoyance.

“Technically it is toasted rye bread, yes,” the guy said. 

Tom had already forgotten the guy’s name: Corbin or Curran, somewhere in the back of his head the possibility it was Marvin.

The other three players, veterans of Tom’s campaign, silently set up their figures on the map.

“But this is far more than toast,” the guy continued. “This is the toast that Milford Prittle was clutching when he rolled the triple crit that vanquished the Tarrasque during the greater Tulsa GamingCon in 2006.”
