Jeffrey kicked his head back, banging the locker. He was still wearing the top of the anthropomorphic Blizzard.
End of season, end of job. His bum ankle throbbed, his agent was retiring, tonight he’d collect his last game check.
He kept telling himself a mascot was more than an actor, kept not believing it.
He slipped the head off.
The backup goalie, the hot one, the one who always got booed walked past, stopped, spoke.
“Join us for drinks at Max’s?”
Jeffrey put the head back on.
“Fuck yes!” he said, adding “I always wanted to swear in this costume.”

The title got me as I used to say that word daily... ATD Anthropomorphic Test Device or better known as Crash Test Dummy, but I relate to the story
