Glad you posted the poem, it reminded me to come read this. "Some pretty good jokes" kills. "Father Thurman checked in" is a great way to produce a "what happened?" response. Kinda near perfect (for a short story, tchhh) I am always impressed.

Great story, Jimmy. It felt like you were revealing little morsels until the shock moment became not predictable but sort of an expected tie it up
I was spooning it out a little on purpose. It was not the story I intended to write when I began. It sort of flowered as I was as working.
