The new boss at Secantro Solutions was some East Coast hot shot. MIT alum of the year, a few software patents, was supposed to take the company to the “next level,” a suggestion Ryan Ivant had heard for three COOs.
He didn’t much care, just hated the bullshit speculation. His salary more than covered his needs, company stock had tripled since he signed on.
Caroline Tribb certainly gave the best “Happy To Be Here” speech of the bunch, full of unexpected laughs, seemingly light on bullshit. She pledged to meet individually with all 36 associates, get their thoughts on the future of the company and their future with it.
Ryan Ivant was seriously considering ditching the corporate world and starting a walleye charter, but he wasn’t sure he’d mention that when his private session with Caroline happened.
Two days later Holly Aaronson stopped Ryan in the parking lot.
“When your turn with Caroline comes, have a light lunch. She treated me to Pasture.”
Ryan hit his key fob.
“She’s got an AX766 Network Reroute patent. She could burn down Pasture and all the Wagyu in it every night and rebuild it the next day.”
Holly chuckled, more at Ryan than with him.
“Ok, Cynicalman. She’s gonna get you in that booth at Pasture- Taj gourmet Indian if you’re vegan- and her sense of humor and blue eyes are gonna shatter that veneer in three seconds. Maybe two.”
