The Best Fish + Chips in Town.
“The Best” and “in Town” were painted in blue on the window and the Fish + Chips part was in neon.
My dad had me every Sunday, in the fall we watched football and then went to get fish and chips.
Piccadilly Fish + Chips, with a little Union Jack painted on the sign that my mom’s father hated until he had an aneurysm at the Hibernians Hall and passed away.
My dad liked the fish and chips at Piccadilly, I guess, but mostly the British beer.
Piccadilly closed at 8 on Sundays, and Mike, the guy that ran the place, would always let me pull the little chain that turned off the Fish + Chips neon.
It’s almost crazy how I looked forward to pulling the chain.
