Demons in Cloudless Skies

I can't figure out cloudless skies, those days where it's just a sheet of blue. How does that shit happen? Like all the clouds went on strike.

I wonder.

I couldn't figure out Tellia Grove, either.

We moved there in sixth grade, from Detroit.

Everybody was intimidated by me, because I was from Detroit.

They said dumb shit about Detroit in Tellia Grove, and racist shit about Detroit in Tellia Grove and all I could think was  “ you live in a town with no McDonald's and two lakes, you need to shut the fuck up about anywhere else.”

The first damn day of school, right after lunch, was art class, and the teacher, Mrs.Braden told us to draw what we saw in the clouds. 

Seemed kinda elementary to me, but I saw a cool demon, and I drew that motherfucker.

I guess I was supposed to know that most of the town went to the Lord's Light Evangelical Church, where they frowned on demonic imagery.

They frowned hard.
