I say this often enough it may be losing impact or validity, but that was one of my favorites yet. As you might expect, part of the joy is that you clearly live a different lifestyle than me. To be clear, I LOVE the choices I've made, but my world is pretty sedate and predictable compared to these folk/that guy/so many of the characters in your story. Your stories/this story makes it wildly easy to imagine myself in other shoes.
So frustrating to just get one life. I don’t believe in the afterlife or reincarnation beyond mere recycling of minerals, but I do like being able to live vicariously and am pretty damned good at it, especially w concise fodder like that you provide.
I can imagine the feelings. You have already visualised a positive response and how you would react, but try to keep your hopes in check. You knew that the answer would probably be ‘no’, like all the other times. And then bingo!
