If nothing else, Mataya Condos knew how to throw a good First Day of Spring Party.
Erin was on Cosmopolitan number two in the Mataya Shores community center when she swore she’d only have one, waved at Sue Portnoy, Kerry Butler, Roger Dominguez.
Gulp it and leave she told herself sternly, followed by “oh shit, grab Jack some shrimp.”
She hadn’t gulped or grabbed shrimp yet when Dudley Martin grabbed her arm.
“Hi Drapes,” Dudley said.
He went by Lee now, had for years, but after he called Erin the nickname he had given her in high school (because her hair was red on both the top and bottom levels), she said “Dudley, nicetaseeyajustonmywaytograbshrimpandleave,” as she pulled away, denying Dudley even the slightest eye contact.
Dudley tugged harder and handed her a card.
Erin took the card then said “wait, Dudley…I have all your info digitally, save this-”
“It’s not real estate related, Erin. How’s Jack?”
“Great, wonderful. He’s at PT. Takes it very seriously. Planning on doing a 5K with the new prosthetic before summer’s over.”
