I let the story develop organically based on flags I routinely see. It struck me that I know Marines who like kids and don't hate gay people. That's where the story landed.
It's so odd, in the US, that so many people are into owning flags and hoisting them in the streets. Pledging alleigance every morning has certainly had an impact on the populace.
The college allegiance ones are pretty funny when you know the sports rivalries. They'll even blend rival flags for couples who went to competing schools.
Jef's work on that plastic bottle series was absolutely outstanding. Great fact sharing, great observations. Of course I'll tell him too but I had to mention it while it was fresh in my mind.
Why is it that the negative shows up first on our doorstep? I liked the idea of the tough Marine giving leeway to the kids.
Love thy neighbor or at least try...

Nicely done.
We’re so stereotyped 😅
I like shattering stereotypes
Love that the story shifted at the end
It truly happened organically. I didn't have a preconceived ending

Don't forget hating the metric system.
Great callback on a previous thread

Thanks Hannah
Nicely done, Jimmy. Loved this one.
Really glad you like it. After a chaotic week I'm glad I was able to pump out something good.
Nice job, Jimmy.
You nailed it.
Thanks Joe. Had a subpar live performance last night so I'm happy the written work worked for people
Flags for the win!
I like winning.

Very interesting.
I really like how this developed. The misdirect worked for me.
Nice twist having all of the neighborhood flags missing. Finding the kids playing with them, the situation came off as authentic. Nice story.
I could really see us doing something similar as kids.
