For the third time in an hour, Brenda Lobner overheard Ferrington Pizelle tell someone at The LunarBar that he was “taking a chance on a young artist.”

She finished her wine and strolled over into Ferrington’s sightline, subtly motioning him to join her. 

He did.

“You make yourself look foolish, Ringo,” she said. “Troy is giving you a gift by showing at Effzelle. His shit is exploding. He probably won’t do a gallery again for a decade, if ever. Jan Thomas says he’s doing the set design for the next Benz campaign, and the only thing Jan Thomas ever gets wrong is matching her lipstick to her outfit. So cut it out, okay? I care about your reputation. This is a kid doing a favor for you. Don’t present it otherwise.”
