It was hollow rebellion, but Carmie and Grant would still go smoke weed at the southeast corner of Willoughby Grade School, where they first smoked weed when they were seventh graders.
Willoughby wasn’t a grade school anymore. It had been some kind of church, then a rehab facility, now it was just padlocked and crumbling.
No one cared if they smoked weed there, and weed was legal now anyway, but Grant insisted.
Cops could pull up and have a conversation with them, wouldn’t matter.
