He told everyone he walked with a limp from a stunt gone awry.

He walked with a limp from a stage manager pushing him down the stairs for showing up drunk to opening night of the Callingford Players production of Horton Hears a Who. 

The previous year he had shown up drunk for the Callingford Players production of American Buffalo and got the best review Wallace Immy ever gave an actor. 

Bert Lavkin was waiting for a PA to bring him a pint of vodka, a bit of a challenge since they were shooting his current RomCom on a pleasure boat anchored 60 feet off the southern shore of Lake Superior.
