Blood on the linoleum steps leading to the basement wasn’t “blood” anymore.
They called it “Kincaid droppings.”
Kincaid rented the basement, paid on time, wasn’t too loud at home.
Marnie and Trevor only went in the basement to do laundry, tried to do it when Kincaid was at the bar, which was about six nights a week.
Kincaid would wear a Santa suit to Demolo’s in April, July, didn’t matter, pass out wrapped gifts, they loved him, Louise Demolo would send him home with a quart of chili at last call.
