Chandra switched from a jog to a walk near the giant oak.
Two men, well older than her father, were playing a game at the picnic table near the restrooms.
“Checkers! I used to play with my dad every night.”
When the two men looked over, she realized they were both shirtless and sockless.
A little odd, but she had seen weirder at Hines Park.
“Can I play winner?”
Nick shook his head. Strong NO.
“This is an annual tournament. An inside joke. We play strip checkers until someone’s naked to celebrate the glorious day we shipped home from Vietnam.”
