Merton was smart enough to know he couldn't start every mostly unwelcome lecture with “back in my day.”

He underestimated the intelligence of his audience – his two mostly beloved nephews – who could easily translate phrases like “When the Stones were on every jukebox” into “back in my day”.

“The Stones are on every jukebox, Merlin.”

Ethan Waterson always called his uncle the magician nickname their mom had knighted him with as children.

Merton’s right eyebrow raised.

“You kids still listen to The Stones?”
