The woman, she was Janko’s aunt, he found out, she was there again, outside the liquor store. The black and white photo of her lost Pomeranian was just above her black wool hat.
Last week, he had walked the alleys with her to look, calling Nani, Nani, with her and she made this kissing sound for Nani that gave him puke shivers.
The sign said “Reward” in black marker.
He had asked how much and she said she didn’t have much.
He gave her ten bucks toward the reward. He prayed with her.
But he was keeping the damn dog.
