The trees gave him comfort. They were old, undisturbed–nothing had been carved in them, no signs nailed to them– and they provided shade, though the sky was mostly overcast.
The trail bothered him. People had walked here, people he had never met. When was a trail like this walked, by whom, and why?
He cut off the trail, deeper into the trees.
