She called her banjo a migratory bird, and Mary Groves carried it everywhere she went.

There were no rules, statutes, laws in Basser Springs about street performing, but Mary more than once had set to playing that banjo where she wasn’t really welcome.

Police in Basser, all two of em, didn’t have much to do but they also couldn’t enforce discomfort.
