The park across from public school 519, New York, New York, had a slide when Alfred Gombel was a kid, A slide they would force other kids to go down.

One might think it odd that kids would be forced to go down a slide, rather than choose to do so, but this slide, hastily constructed as a 1979 Public Works general strike vote was being conducted, had a weld so furiously bad that it would lacerate a hand, an elbow, a butt cheek.

1 out of every 3 kids who slid down the slide wound up bleeding in some way.
