Judge not, lest you get stung. Or something like that.

Many great actors advise less experienced actors that one of the best ways they can improve their work is simply by going out in public and observing how people behave.

I’m probably not a great dinner date because I am addicted to this practice as both an actor and a writer.

Someone is deep into the most passionate part of a story of a beloved childhood pet and I’m drifting over to the couple arguing at Booth 3.

Connected to this is the awareness that when I’m in public someone is probably watching me and judging me.

The other night I had a meeting with a film director about a potential role in a film.

The director asked me to meet him at a newer spot in a very trendy part of town. 

I sat facing him and the wall behind him, which was perfect, because the script is amazing and I wanted the role. (I want most of them. This one was top 5 on the desire list, career, all time). I could put my wandering eye proclivities aside long enough to pay attention to this guy and convince him that I was the right person for the role.
