Thanks. I've given up on any growth at Substack. I just want to entertain the people that are here. This one might be a bit pulpy but I hope there are some characters to cheer for.
I’ve seen a LOT of comments from people plateauing. Or noticing that new hotshots come in w huge numbers of subscribers to others’ envy and chagrin. In the short time I’ve been here, I notice a certain plateauing or drop having gotten used to a comment every time I looked at my phone and one or two new subscribers a day. Gotta admit, I miss the approval, but am really just doing this for my own amusement. I still very much enjoy your work, hope you still enjoy doing it.
“Russell Bawinski had been a cop in Shawland Heights for eleven years, three times the average for that neighborhood. He had done the rest of his career in the relative safety of the bomb squad.”
Well done, Jimmy. I re-read this line in the voice of Frank Drebin; then it hit me like a pound of Semtex under my chair.
Have fun, don’t worry about the likes. Start your novel right here, right now. Thank you for distracting me from politics each night. We all need a bit of smart entertainment.
Way worth the wait, Mr Jimmy. I’m actually relieved you took a break and feel
Free to send in a story on the installment plan. That is. Good one.
And been sending your name around to some people. Hope they grab ahold of ya.

I’ve loved writing since way before the internet. I’ll always love writing and I love that you guys love it back
Colorful. Soulful. Dialectic. A good read!
Thanks. Had a character in mind, just wanted to take him on some adventures. This is the beginning of that.
Burt Road Butchers Ha ha!
This is a fictional world but I'm going to drive Detroiters nuts sprinkling in real life landmarks and name drops.

Welcome back. Can’t wait to read what happens next!
Glad you enjoyed your break.
After three years of waiting for the daily story, I realized I hadn't checked for one in a couple days.
Thrilled you're back!
This is definitely different, but, who cares? It's a Jimmy Doom.
Just like life, there is no requirement that tomorrow must be like today.
Interesting beginning to this one. Already contemplating how it "breaks."
Love the banana metaphor and the idea of a continuing story.
Neighborhood legends live for generations. I’m invested in Break now, J. Don’t hurt him?
I read this in the voice of Sam Elliott! The cinematography in your story is very vivid!!
Thank you. Huge compliment to call it cinematography
