Thanks for teaching us all a lesson, Jimmy.
It was just a vignette in my head. If there's a lesson there I'm glad
Your stories are always ominous but never dismal. There's always a message.
You’re trying to FlanneryO’Conner me to death, aren’t you??
Yet somehow our protagonist is still racing - in his heart - while others who aren’t paralyzed, well, may as well be.
so I m willing to like this story. I do actually. like it a lot.
I'm just telling stories. Life is not cooperating very much.
It’s more than ‘just’. The connections you make are broader than you know. It’s the effect of a storytelling at its best.
I got some stories for ya… unfortunately they’re all true stories so you can’t use them right? I think that’s against the rules of the Doom Manifesto?
I don't have any shortage of story ideas. That will never be the issue that ends this run.
The difficulty is that many of the ideas deserve more time than I can devote to them because I'm not making enough money on Substack.
We all want to catch air, it might not be by speeding in a car but it’s something in our ego egging us on in a direction that we know could be a danger to us somehow …but…we thank our lucky stars we can control our fascination of catching that air.
That's absolutely true. Everyone has their " air " challenge
Death-by-Flannery-O’Connor… Not a bad way to go.
I’d rather death by a …hmmm not Truman Capote… maybe Hemingway.
Not Cheever, certainly.
Not Cheever or Sinclair Lewis either. Maybe Philip Roth…
I'll read it, thank you very much.
Living is my cup of tea.
Well done as always.
Thanks C.L. Gonna try to make it to 900 consecutive
I've been the audio tech on many of the 'Every 15 Minutes' shows done at high schools.
Done a few of the Day 2 funerals, too.
As a father, it really hits.
We were all kids once and have done some stupid stuff, and thank God, got away with it.
I call it DWS - driving while stupid.
Excellent story, told from the perp's point of view.
I liked the way your story came full circle. Very satisfying.
Thanks K.C. I try to close them with some clarity and purpose
