One of the most brilliant people I've ever known- poet, comedian, absolutely fascinating mind- has one tattoo: An incredibly poorly done India ink and a needle job that simply says: Kafka
J, no doubt whatsoever this is true. (His election coincided with the birth of our first grandchild so I do imbue it with a good bit of aspirational thought.). Nothing can be perfect. Not Elvis not anyone. Why I ever think so usually confounds me in retrospect. (In the moment it can be pretty damn great though)
I listened to them for the first time because you mentioned them. Obviously very good at what they do. Too shoegazy for my general taste, but some of the orchestrations are amazing and I could see putting them on a mix tape
I know this was weird and stylized, but you really captured the harrow of canvassing. I’ll have to share it with the team, when I, inevitably, have to do it again in 2024. Sigh
I love that review. Because I was "free writing", just letting it flow and I thought " this is weird and stylized" but the style was just to let it happen
Yes, I was smiling through this whole encounter, thinking how many times I have wanted to escape but couldn’t. Not good at all covering up a can of worms once it’s opened!
That's one hell of a beautiful compliment. Thank you.
That's not bad company.

Wow!
That ending!
Brilliant (and hirsute)!
Both an allegory and just for fun.
Well now, that was a hairy little adventure. I'll be smiling till March 33rd.
I owed all of you some smiley ones
She handled it well. And I love the guy. Reminds me of canvassing for Obamain 08 and 12. I was sent out even in rainstorms tho good grief
Obama was my mom's Elvis. She thought that guy was the biggest star in the galaxy
He embodied for me what I hoped was the achievement, despite the past and the bullshit thrown at him, of what this country was.
I love that way of looking at it. I did not look at it that way, but the story is an even bigger success when people pull their own ideas from it.

I'm a scatterhead. You were talking about real life Obama.
I did like his presidency but I think anyone with a pulse wishes that even their favorite presidents did something better.
Everyone's least favorites had to have done something decent, even if by accident. Almost all of them anyway.
I agree with you. (Though there’s one jackass that I can’t imagine drawing any good from.)
Quite hairy and well done.
You wouldn’t happen to be a fan of the Danish band The Rainfall Years, would you, Jimmy?
I listened to them for the first time because you mentioned them. Obviously very good at what they do. Too shoegazy for my general taste, but some of the orchestrations are amazing and I could see putting them on a mix tape
Agreed on the shoegazy part and the orchestrations part too. Obviously, I was referring to their 33rd of March album :)
I listened to This Bright Yet Starless Night and one other on YouTube.
I grabbed the date out of nowhere, but that's super cool.
So many great lines. . . I can't pick my favorite. Good job Jimmy.
I was just having fun and hoping you would too. Thanks Scott!
Nice!
Super happy to have pumped out a lighter one, though some of the allegories are a little scary
I love this one, because of the creative use of adjectives, like Sasquatchian.
Gotta have fun with language, right?
No sane author would bother.....made me chuckle and re-read. 😁
I was in the mood to have fun with it, so I did.
Hee hee she has the same name as me.
Timely
Ripped from the headlines, stylized, lampooned, allegorized ( which probably isn't a real word, but anyway )
I suppose that could have gone worse.
It can always go worse

I could never knock on doors for a candidate
Love it. A good example of why passing out campaign literature isn't on my bucket list.
