It's taken from a character in a book by a rather famous author.

That's him. Also sung about by the much maligned Red Hot Chili Peppers

That's amazing to me. But no shame. I'm sure you've read a bunch of stuff I haven't.

Ecstatic to bring lightness to you.

Certainly describes the priorities of today!

Excellent allegory of our time.

This one could be read at City Hall or printed on the Editorial Page; seemingly innocuous, it bites hard at the end - where needed and as it should.

Good story. I like it.

You are on a roll. A string of very strong, excellent stories in the past 30 days.

Nice job!

Sadly, if it were recited at City Hall, the reader would probably be charged with "disturbing the peace"!

You say so much in so very few words! This is powerful, and your prose is most poetic in places.

<< I’ve known neurosurgeons who don’t understand the infield fly rule and choreographers who can’t figure a 20% tip without a calculator. >>

I've heard about an international master (chess) who couldn't balance a checkbook, also!

<< I cleaned up Yertle’s shit, but no one seemed in any hurry to clean up the blood. >>

What a powerful last sentence! Bravo!

Thanks Lenny! It's kind of like my bar brawling days: I like to throw a few punches and get out quick.

Thank you. Doing this every day has been such a challenge it's amazing to know that the stories are resonating.

A hell of a lot packed into 250 words. I've tried a few 'every day challenges'. It's tougher than folk imagine. I did 55 days of thoughts and ideas in 55 words ... but tanked when I tried 100 days of 100 words. Credit to you ... not just the rhythm but the quality too.

Thank you. I thought I might falter when I was making some movies. Being able to write after being on set all or most of the day gave me a lot of confidence for "normal" days, if such a thing as a normal day exists.

This story has a caustic feel and it’s so reactive to todays society. Enjoyed your insight on human nature❤️

I got Yertle’s name right away! (Mocha’s a tortoise-point Siamese mix, so she sometimes gets called Yertle.)

Amazing how the nuts with knives and clubs always end up shot, when the nuts with guns get taken into custody. Especially if they’re white nuts with guns.
