“…like the singer of a neo-Glam band who snuck some Jungian pop psych lyrics into a ketamine ballad.”
I can say with some confidence that these words have never appeared in the same sentence or in the same order in human history. I have always had a soft spot for Marc Bolan, whether in Tyrannosaurus Rex or T Rex. A quick Google revealed that Bolan DOES explore Jungian themes.
I won’t be able to listen to Ride a White Swan in the same way ever again. Well done, Jimmy, your imagination knows no boundaries.
I thought about running to Magees at halftime but was afraid I’d jinx em. ( For the record Magees is a Liverpool supporters bar but is also the bar where I run the LOD dart night and know the owner. The new Spurs bar is in the burbs).
I have had this feeling for quite some time now, wondering why the world has become liar's club.
And now this story pops up.
Since we can't be 100% certain anymore about what's true about all the stuff people talk about, I guess (probably) granola-free peanut butter raisin popcorn should do the trick.
Happy almost 5 year anniversary! Damn impressive. This story sounds like an opening into something more expansive. I can hear and see these characters evolving into a novel.
That’s a truly odd short story.
That truly might be the start of a novel
I hope it is. Great characters, it holds a vibe that seems both heavy and light at the same time.
Thanks. That’s what I was shooting for. Humor, toasted with dark reality
That’s what I just thought
stricken with the image of her face - like some Delphic reptilian oracle asking the question .

PS Sorry about Spurs. I wanted them to win.

Loved it!
I think this is the beginning of the new novel. Thanks, my friend.

That’s what I’m doing with it
yes i've seen these tongues, yes often on trains or buses, no you cannot forget them: 'reptilian, grotesque and seemed thoughtful at the same time'
brilliant piece; pleasure to ride the bus with you
Thanks. There are 1700+ stories in the archive. Hope you like a bunch of em.
on it! I’m sure I shall
Short, sweet, and a little dirty. Just how I like my granola bars. “Shot with rough luck” - loved that
This one might become a novel if life would get out of my way
I didn’t expect to laugh like that. Not sure I was supposed to but it felt good and I’ll be heading off to sleep in a better mood.
I will buy this novel immediately. Better get cracking.
On it. Subtitled “Alex Shifman Made Me Write This”
Water mark, my disapproving face.
On every page? Or little transition avatars?
On the spine at least, just under the title like an imprint logo
How about I just name a character Alex Shifman?
So long as he’s somewhat pathetic.
