I woke to write it and it kept me awake thinking about it.

Oh, the agony and the empathy in this one! You captured the simple ways that we try to help--a ride, a meal, comfort offered to someone in pain-- sometimes the results are like a storybook and other times are not what we hope. Thank you for the emotional roller coaster this morning.

Wow. Apt title, woven in three ways.

I'm glad. I didn't wanna wreck or diminish it with a bad title. I know I've done it in the past.

My childhood neighborhood, the Kcar reference, your subtle reveal of the pain inside both characters. It’s a good thing I’m not one of those women who is dog obsessed or I’d be a puddle right now. So very well done.

Thanks. I kinda knew Morver would do that. He isn't a " tissue" type of guy.

Too true. Too true.

Craisman may not appreciate Morver, but he's got a true friend.

Excellent story, Jimmy!

Someone will read this and it will help.

Thanks Brian. I hope you love hundreds of the stories in the archive. But if you read some you don't like as much, feel free to tell me. I'm sensitive but not shy.

There’s a family member of mine that is currently dating an alcoholic. Before they met, this woman got a house and $20,000 in a divorce. She then lost the house and had to file for bankruptcy because she drank all her money. Skip an X amount of years and my family member starts dating her, helps pay off her debts, starts paying for most of her rent when they begin living together, and he gives her money in the hopes that it will help kickstart her savings.

Has this woman used any of this to turn her life around? Nope. Not only is she almost broke again, she has begun buying more expensive alcohol because she’s not paying as much on rent and other things anymore. My family member has offered multiple times to take her to AA meetings but she keeps making excuses as to why she can’t go. They’re probably going to break up soon.

You can try your best, but you really can’t help people who don’t want to change.

You sure can't. My drummer just died of it. We tried to help him. Modern medicine tried to help him. He refused.

Hi Jimmy, Many thanks for your reply, and do not worry my fellow writer, I am sure that we will not always agree with what is good and bad, the main thing is that we can tell each in a respectful manner.
