Oof another hard hit. Came close to donating a kidney to a now gone friend but mine aren’t that great and he wasn’t really doing his own work, and… and… and… mostly glad to have both, but sometimes think I shoulda.
I think it’s got some positive heart that is probably destroyed by the reality of our own impermanence. I started writing some fantasy but kept it for my novel.
I know a guy who's a facilitator between the hospital and the kidney.
When a kidney becomes available he must immediately determine whether the kidney can be accepted or rejected (i.e. to another surgical center) as many puzzle pieces, i.e. people, must be aligned in advance. There is an extensive check-list for incoming kidneys.
He knows exactly every doctor's preference - some only want right kidneys, or they demand a certain length of artery remaining. He carefully examines pictures of the removed kidney before shipment, looking for any anomaly. Sounds picky, but it is a live kidney and failure is not an option. There is nothing so heart-breaking as having to cancel a surgery in progress.
Thanks. Unless something unforeseen happens I doubt I can continue. Really thought people would embrace this. 400 people would keep me going. But looks like I’ll have to get a “real” job.
I just don’t get it. I really don’t. I’ve shared/encouraged friends to subscribe. Freaking crickets. Are people afraid of committing?? For some it’s gotta be more than about money.
Vic finally got to smoke. Ha. Good read, Jimmy.

Damned hello kitty I’m the window.
My late ex girlfriend had a kidney transplanr
Eight words that leave me tongue tied.
Sometimes that’s all people have. Though I’m glad I never smoked
Tough read, J.

Kidneys are hard, and they shouldn’t be. Everyone should donate their organs when they die.

We are never guaranteed tomorrow.
What we do today, will have an effect on our tomorrow and all our tomorrows.
This story has so much heart in it. I felt concern and care for all the characters. And I appreciated your PSA at the end. Thx for a great read Jimmy.

You are really good at capturing the characters voices. You could feel Vic's weariness and the hello kitty sticker was a nice touch.
