I simply cannot believe you started this long ago and have sustained a story-a-day since then. Did you have any idea what kind of commitment you were taking on? Perfect that the divorce is announced at the fridge door. And that he lowers his voice to make his point.

Kinda wanna sidetrack and talk about Pearl Jam….

I didn’t know. I wanted to sustain it as long as I could. I thought people would embrace it. Then Notes was introduced and the idea shifted to “ community building” and “incubating new writers”

As part of the wave that hopped on during the Note Era, I hope my upgrade to paid yesterday is part of a new wave for you. If not, and you need to change priorities, I fully understand I believe I got way more than my moneys worth to have access to your vast archives. It seemed to take hours to scroll back there on my phone. I knew the number of posts in my head, but scrolling pinches it far further. I will try to move forward on my laptop but as you know, screens and I are merely tolerant of each other and my laptops battery is crap enough I can’t take it outside.

I’m not very tech savvy either. I wish there was an easier way to navigate

they werent planning for your level of production! FWIW, I have noticed and been irked by the influence of notes in the short time I’ve been here, and am embarrassed to have seen its influence on me. not that im terribly dedicated to it all, its been awhile that ive done a post instead of a note, and im seeing growing numbers of people with THOUSANDS of subscribers who havent posted a thing. blechch.

People import and amass thousands of free subscribers. You have to be famous to get 1000 paying subscribers

That makes sense.

But doesnt fit my sense of the world.

I am not a celebrity stalker, don’t generally know who’s famous (though I think I was first to comment on a Tommy Orange post) and definitely DID know who he was,

I DO enjoy having a cool encounter, then learning they have some status. In Tommy’s case, we connected early and, for a minute, thought he’d be a guest speaker in my classroom (we had just finished reading There,There).

About a week into joining all this, I ran into Cintra Wilson and quickly snarfed down her “A Massive Swelling” about the effects of Celebrity Culture. That was/is a good connection. I wonder how you two would get along. Fun to picture.

I’ve been around fame most of my life. ( It will be in the memoir ). Took some unreal financial hits over the years and I’ve seen how fame can accelerate financial success though it certainly is a distorted reality.
