Yeah, I’ve gotten that a lot. I embrace it but have drawn the line at letting promoters of my live appearances call me “ Detroit’s Bukowski.” They’ve tried.
I just found this. So real. It’s raw and.. so much not about anything other than the tentacles of harm in all its murderous glory.. a great piece. All of it.
I’m glad you’re finding them. I have a new one brewing, but there have been a few distractions bad and good tonight. I worked all weekend selling lemonade at Pride and selling my books at Detroit’s Eastern Market and picked up a job ripping out carpet.
I started to answer you but got pulled away and had a chance to more thoroughly think of how I experience your writing. Because good writing in every form (my own favorite being poetry) is experienced. Nothing less. Ingested whether hungry or not.
You are one of a few here.
One day (in fact already) your work and theirs will enter the national literary consciousness (whatever the fk i believe I mean by that but I’m trying to not be obsequious).
Never doubt it.
