That’s a great little lesson. I never heard that bit of the superstition until I was an adult (and heard it from southerners).

Not into talismans, but I am into reminders.

A sight.

A smell.

A sound.

A touch.

An article of clothing, etc.

Each bring back a memory (good, bad, indifferent) which reminds me of something.

Moving through life, I constantly bounce from memory to memory, depending on what I see or hear.

Sound is huge for me. A random scrape or even yell can bring on a song.

Everything has a frequency - even color.

Like Neil Diamond wrote: "What A Beautiful Noise".

Thanks for the video. May your day be full of life.

Songs for sure. Certain sounds get me too. I've never really ranked the memory senses. The way I lived I'm happy I can remember anything.

I have some things to say about this video !! First off I LOVED IT !!

I am so very sorry for the loss of your girlfriend/friend..my hearts goes out to you.

I always remember from being a child..."find a penny pick it up all day long you'll have good luck" being heads up. I still find change on the ground being a penny or a dime rarely a nickle or quarter...being heads up or tails up and I always pick it up regardless...and throw in my small change dish. I am not superstitious ... but .. have been to a blind psychic .. took my Mom for a reading for Mother's Day years ago to Alhambra Institute (sp?) in DEARBORN ... she went first..holding her car keys...knew my Dad passed which this was way before being able to GOOGLE people, he was spot on about things about my Dad and my sister whom you cannot even GOOGLE seeing she passed in 1982, etc blah blah but then listening to him he said when a loved one passes sometimes they will give you signs such as a penny but mostly dimes...it is weird that when I am having a bad day or it's an anniversary of the death of my Sister or Dad...I have found dimes on the ground.... I find it to be quite neat and think of them. Absolutely LOVED this true story..found it amazing and also love the kidney transplant become an organ donor seeing my boss and friend from a place I worked for many years is on the kidney transplant list...Thanks Jim for your inspiration !! Hugs !!

What an awesome little story and reminder to all of us who watched it. I appreciate the tie-in to writing, too. Thanks for sharing it!

I agree with what Joe said above. The smell of cigarette smoke reminds me of my grandmother. I don’t smoke, or go out of my way to be around it, but when I smell it I always think of her presence. Specific songs bring me back to exact moments in time or make me think of specific individuals, too. And any time I open a can (of beer, soda, whatever) I twist the tab to the left. I’ve been doing this automatically for a solid decade, but every time I do this, it reminds me of two of my best friends and something silly/stupid we used to do in college. When we see each other, which is rare these days, I notice they still do it, too.

Tab to the left is a story you can write. I know it. I feel that one strongly.
