Interesting, kind of gross, visceral, and in that style of painted scenery I really like.

The repetition of the question and answer is great cadence and I enjoyed that the whole act of smoking another’s discarded cigarette is like kissing.

Thanks Chevanne. I saw those scenes vividly. Glad you like the painting.

This is amazing. Funny, poignant, original.

Thanks Christy! I swear I always strive for ' original'. Super stoked you like it.

Love the technique of the confused thought and decision.

Thanks. That's such a common thought pattern I never see in fiction. Not saying I invented it, but it's certainly not a regular occurrence in print.

How you do this every day is beyond me.

The vivid imagery using minimal verbiage, yet I am there. Thinking. Hearing. Watching. Listening.

Few words; but enough.

Another solid.

Purple lipstick is MY COLOR! ;-) The intimacy of simply existing on this planet at the same time is staggering to me. I wish more people understood this.

So many factors work against sharing. It's one of the reasons I like making new off ramp friends. They see exponentially more people a day and 99% don't even ask em their name.

We know so much about Duncan from the initial action. Great storytelling with showing, not telling.

Thanks. I'm not just churning them, I'm really trying to put out quality work. Too bad I can't find a bigger audience so I could devote more time to it.

I feel like a voyeur but not a creeper way, more nostalgia with a twinge of sadness. Must be the colour of lipstick that did that. Nice job

Most of my stories I want people to feel like a voyeur or even a participant in some way

Hey, are you the Jimmy Doom who used to hang out at Gus's in Royal Oak? I used to go there with my older brother, Gary. I love your writing.

Expand full comment

Yes I am and I remember you and Gary. Haven't seen Gary since a conference at Tangent Gallery a few years ago. Gary and I had plenty of interesting conversations at the Gus.

I'm really happy to hear you love the writing. Publishing every day has been a huge challenge, the positive feedback really kicks me forward. You're not gonna believe this but I remember your dad from when I worked at Diamond Jim Brady's on 7 Mile. I have a nonfiction story on here about walking home from that job when I was in high school.
